About Me

Hi, I'm also known as Ian! I'm an Operational Research Scientist with an MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of Portsmouth, where I was recognised as the Best Graduating Student.

My work focuses on mathematical programming, computational experimentation, and heuristic and metaheuristic algorithm development for multi-objective combinatorial optimisation, with applications in facility location, network design, resource allocation, and scheduling. I also develop ETL pipelines to support optimisation workflows and translate computational results into accessible, interactive decision-support platforms.

You can explore more about my work through my research projects and publications, or visit my Creative corner for something a little less conventional, where I bring my more unhinged ideas to life. If you find anything interesting or would like to get in touch, I'd love to hear from you!

UK Blood Collection Network Optimisation

University of Portsmouth × NHS Blood and Transplant · United Kingdom

Developed an integrated mathematical optimisation framework for national blood collection planning, addressing capacitated facility location, donor allocation and multi-period scheduling. The research combines multi-objective modelling with tailored heuristic and metaheuristic algorithms to support complex, large-scale planning decisions.

Coffee Beans and FMCG Products Demand Forecasting

TRG International · Vietnam

Developed demand forecasting approaches for 20+ coffee bean products and 150+ FMCG products to support procurement planning and inventory management. Analysed historical demand patterns, incorporating trend and seasonality, and compared forecasts against actual demand to inform purchasing and inventory decisions.
